Five things to check before you place an online order

Dealspoter Editorial

A good-looking price can change between the product page and the checkout screen. Give yourself a minute to review these five details before you place the order.

1. Compare the delivered price

Add shipping, taxes and any required fees. Compare that total with the same item from another seller, using the same delivery speed.

2. Confirm the exact product

Check the size, model number, color and condition. Similar photos can belong to different models or to refurbished listings.

3. Read the return terms

Look for the return window, return shipping costs and any exclusions. Some marketplace sellers use their own policies.

4. Check the delivery estimate

Distinguish between the date an item ships and the date it should arrive. If the purchase is time-sensitive, compare what the seller actually promises.

5. Look for an eligible offer

Check whether a promo code applies to your order. After applying one, review the final total and make sure nothing was added to your cart to meet a minimum you didn’t need.
